Sustaining Purpose: Resilience, Collaboration,

and Future Outlook

The journey of purpose in a demanding field like sustainability inevitably con

fronts the unpredictable. Mehak’s approach to personal readiness for challeng

es is distinctive: “You are never ready, and always ready”. She posits that the

initial step is merely “wanting to start something”, and then, through the jour

ney, one “keeps learning”. Readiness, therefore, for her is not a fixed, quantifia

ble state but an ongoing process, driven by feeling “driven enough by the cause

or by whatever that you are planning to do”. Her early startup, an aromatherapy

roll-on, “made sense at that time.” Still, she concluded it when “something else

made more sense”. This is a pragmatic pivot guided by evolving priorities and

authenticity. Her core value of “authenticity” means “as long as whatever I’m

doing makes sense in my universe, it’s good”.
